    Providing at least two litter trays is essential, as some cats prefer to urinate and defecate in separate boxes.

    It’s also possible that your litter tray isn’t big enough (the size should be at least 1.5 times the cat’s length); your kitty may need a larger one to avoid soiling the same spot.

    I recommend scooping the waste immediately, or at least twice daily, and providing extra litter trays. Also, place one of the litter boxes in a quiet area.

    If she recently started pooping outside the tray, a medical issue could be the cause. Additionally, changes within the household can create anxiety for your cat, leading to inappropriate elimination.

    Below are examples of large litter trays we currently use in our multi-cat household.
