My Maine Coon has always been extremely friendly with people. All of a sudden with 3 different woman friends who came to my house he has picked them out and hisses at them. What could cause? I tell them to ignore him but it sure make all of us uncomfortable! Any suggestions?

    Hi Linda

If your Maine Coon is displaying new behavior, it could be a subtle sign that something isn’t right in your cat’s world.

They may be feeling threatened or stressed by the presence of visitors.

Have any changes in your household, environment, or personal/health circumstances occurred?

If nothing has changed, it might be a good idea to have your Maine Coon checked by a veterinarian to rule out any pain or medical problems. Cats are emotionally sensitive; even minor changes can affect their emotional well-being.

If you can’t take your cat to the vet, consider letting it decompress from visitors for a few weeks and see if that makes any difference.

Trust your cat; they are trying to communicate something that only you can understand.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you! I will make an appointment. I have not had anyone here lately so I will see if he still has the same effect with 2 of the ladies.
