What wet food works best for picky cats?
I have a picky cat who often walks away from wet food. I’m trying to find the healthiest wet cat food that she will actually eat regularly. What brands or textures have worked well for your cats?

Hi Billi,
Your kitty could be walking away from wet food for a couple reasons. I have some patients who simply don’t like any kind of wet food texture and eat only dry food. I do think it’s best to offer both as kittens to acclimate them to different food types and textures as there are many advantages later in life for eating wet food.
My own cats have never had a problem with pate’, however some cats may not like it because it can stick to their mouth. I always prefer to mash up pate and not just feed it as a “loaf” from the cat.
Stew type wet foods some cats do like better, especially kind with piece of meat in.
Food refusal can also come down to flavors and odors as well.
If traditional canned or pouch food has been tried to no avail, it can be worth looking into something like Smalls that is fresh but balanced and may be less of a turn-off to some cats.
