  • Urinating to litterbox walls

Hi! I have 3 cats, 2 male, 1 female, all spayed and 2 extra large litter boxes, well maintained as I work from home. There were never litter box issues and they all kind of use the same litter box at times. However since I got my youngest cat, the middle male cat often pees to the walls of the litter instead of normally and quite often. However it is not any health issue and he does not do this all the time. He is very vocal and loves attention and I notice that these incidents happen when he calls and I don’t answer immediately. Other times he just chases my female cat aggressively. I understand he may feel threatened or tense even though I give him as much attention as before. Any advice?

    Hi Ana,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Can you please confirm whether your male cat squats, lifts his tail, or sprays while he’s peeing inside the litter tray? Feel free to take a video and share it here.

How long ago did the youngest cat join the family, and did the peeing behavior start a few weeks or months after her arrival?

    Thank you

Sounds a little like our household. We have 2 that pee high so we slip a paper towel in-between the bottom and top lip of the boxes so it absorbs most of it and then we change it out when it’s wet. I know it’s bothersome but be glad he’s not peeing on your house walls. I hope he doesn’t start that since it’s hard to break. Goodluck
